President ’s Message

Greetings and Welcome
It is my distinct pleasure to extend you greetings from the members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated©, Sigma Omega Omega Chapter. Sigma Omega Omega proudly holds the distinction of being the first Black Greek Letter Organization chartered in Douglasville, Georgia. Our 300+ members take great pride that we have been providing “Service to All Mankind” since December 29, 1990 and have received multiple proclamations and awards for our exemplary service.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated© was founded in 1908 as the first sorority established by college-educated African American women. Under the leadership of our 31st International President and CEO, Danette Anthony Reed, our 2022-2026 International Program Initiatives are aptly themed, “Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood.”  This administration has six initiatives. Strengthen Our Sisterhood will serve as the administration’s “Foundation Initiative” as we strengthen our bonds to support our service mission.  The remaining five initiatives will serve as the “Program Initiatives” which include:

Empower Our Families

Build Our Economic Wealth

Enhance Our Environment

Advocate for Social Justice

Uplift Our Local Community

If you are a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.© we invite you to Sorority Meeting on the third Saturday of each month at 10 am.  Please check the website for meeting location and/or date changes as we sometimes relocate due to special occasions.  Kindly email our Membership Chairman, Rhonda B. Bailey at membership@sigmaomegaomega.com to obtain further details.

We take pride in partnering with Douglas County, The City of Douglasville and the Douglas County School System. Through the years, we have hosted free health and business fairs; awarded over $100,000 in scholarships; beautified local parks and schools; provided Thanksgiving meals and holiday toys to families; created a food pantry and clothing closet at a local school; provided backpacks and school supplies to students; and adopted a local street(with a sign that bears our name) that we clean quarterly–to name a few of our notable service contributions to our community. I kindly encourage you to explore our website to learn more about the incredible service our extraordinary members provide.

Thank you for visiting the website of the Sensational Sigma Omega Omega Chapter where we are Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood.
